Last night’s Chanel show really was a sight to behold. Watching a rainbow of tweed-clad models stream out of the magnificent gates of the old Wholesale Fish Markets before parading down Thomas Street was a striking vision.

Dressed in sixties inspired Baker Boy hats and Mary Jane shoes (flats really are best when negotiating the cobbles) they looked fantastic as they strode past the bars and shops of the Northern Quarter, backlit by a hue of mobile phone cameras.

As fashion editor Rachel Pugh writes in her review, there were nods to Manchester with flashes of City blue and United red, glittering sequin looks that wouldn’t look out of place in Spinningfields and fluorescent colours that evoke the city’s rave culture. “Another heavy influence within the show's early stages was the baker boy hat - perhaps synonymous with the Failsworth hat company, which has been operating since 1903 in Manchester,” writes Rachel.
