The King's New Year Honours List has been announced and David Beckham has once again failed to be recognised. It is said the football legend has been hoping to be honoured by the reigning monarch in the annual award, but it has not yet come to be.

While there is no confirmed reason for this, a few moments Beckham's history could be to blame, particularly a series of sweary emails sent 10 years ago.Last year, the 48 year-old sparked controversy after being appointed ambassador at the Qatar World Cup, with the role allegedly paid Beckham £150million in a 10-year-deal.

The deal was slammed by LGBT+ groups due to the country's criminalisation of same sex marriage.Beckham's team defended the move saying he hoped to use his involvement in the tournament as a "force for good" but not everyone saw it that way, especially Joe Lycett.

The comedian called the ex-England captain's defence a "cop out" and called for the footballer to renounce his position. After Lycett accused Beckham of hypocrisy, he shredded a topless image of the footballer from gay lifestyle magazine Attitude and when Beckham ignored his challenge, Lycett staged a stunt where he appeared to shred £10,000 in cash.Weeks after the comic called out Beckham, the Inter Miami owner was over-looked for a prestigious invite to Buckingham Palace once again, the Mirror reports.Meanwhile, a previous snub allegedly sparked a series of furious emails between Beckham and his long-time PR man Simon Oliveira that were claimed to have "leaked" in 2017.
