Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden shared an emotional apology to her dad as she shared a string of messages on social media.

The dancer is currently undergoing treatment after being diagnosed with stage three breast cancer. Amy, who has been a part of the BBC One dance contest since 2017, had undergone a mastectomy and reconstruction after receiving her cancer diagnosis.

The surgery came after she discovered a lump in her right breast before going on her honeymoon with her husband Ben Jones. Following the operation, Amy was waiting for news of the next steps in her treatment and shared how she was dealt a "massive blow" when doctors found "more tumours" and another type of cancer which meant she needed chemotherapy and also that she won't be able to compete in Strictly this year. But in her latest update, Amy turned the attention on her father, Richard, as she marked his birthday by sharing a string of photos and videos of them together - including on her wedding day last year in which he took to the mic for a sing-song with the backing of Amy's former celebrity dance partner, McFly star Tom Fletcher. "Happy birthday to the most amazing dad @richard_dowden," she started by typing on her Instagram Story alongside a picture of them both at what appeared to be a wedding with Richard suited and booted while Amy stunned in a colbolt blue dress.
