The BBC were forced to apologise to viewers, following a rather awkward on-air blunder during the Women's World Cup final. Just moments after kick-off, viewers watching on the BBC took to social media to complain that they could hear the Spanish commentary over the English.
As the issue was pointed out, Gabby Logan, who was leading the commentary, issued a quick apology. She said: “Apologies, if you were hearing our Spanish colleagues. They are very up for this.” Posting on social media a number of fans joked about the awkward situation, as one quipped: "The Spanish commentary(?) loudly yelling in the background behind the BBC commentary is the elite game watching experience #ESPENG #FIFAWWC" "I love the way you can hear the excitable Spanish commentary in the background of the BBC feed" added another.
However, not everyone saw the funny side, with a number of fans sharing their complaints instead. One such viewer wrote: "Any chance of the BBC not setting up their commentary box right next to the Spanish?!
Feel like he’s in the box with them!" And a second added: "So on the BBC we have a commentator with a sore throat and can also hear Spanish commentary in the background Sort it out @bbc #Lionesses" While others shared that they had instead switched over to the ITV coverage of the match.
