Saints boss Stephen Robinson insists his side went to Ibrox chasing all three points that would have made their top-six dreams come true.

And he was disappointed his Buddies couldn’t quite get over the line after holding Rangers at 2-2 going into the final 15 minutes of the match.

While he took plenty of positives from the overall display, particularly Mark O’Hara’s brace of wonderful strikes, the St Mirren boss fully believed his team could have sealed the deal in Govan before a late defensive collapse cost them dearly.

He said: “We were hoping to get it done at Ibrox and we were in a position to do that.“But it didn’t happen and we have to dust ourselves down now.“There will be fans who will say we had a go here and we were unlucky, but we don’t work like that.“We came here to try and win and had numerous chances — a few one-versus-two situations where we just didn’t make the right pass.”“Ultimately we couldn’t see it through.”Rangers manager Michael Beale admits Mark O'Hara's first goal at Ibrox on Saturday was a "fantastic strike".While the Buddies in the away end were celebrating wildly as their midfielder's sensational volley found the top corner to level just before half-time, Beale was fizzing at his players for not shutting the move down much earlier. And the Rangers boss admits he had to change more than he'd hoped to eventually get the better of the Saints late on at Ibrox. He said: "I was really annoyed with St Mirren's first goal."Take nothing away from the boy O'Hara, it was a fantastic strike.
