Scots NHS worker thanks paramedics for restarting mum's heart so family could say final goodbye

An NHS worker has thanked hero paramedics who restarted her late mum's heart so her family got the chance to say their final goodbyes.

Lyndsay McLaughlin says the efforts of Scottish Ambulance Service Staff Natalie Hill and Ally Nicol from Ayr, meant her mum Mary gained consciousness, when they attended to her before she passed away in 2021.

Despite their best efforts, Mary tragically died a few days later in ICU. But her organs were able to be donated and saved a young woman's life.

Mary was given the Order of St John award for her kidney donation.Lyndsay, who is PA to NHS Ayrshire and Arran’s Director of Allied Health Professions, said: “She had a bleed in the brain and her heart stopped.
