A Jet2 plane heading from Scotland to the Canary Islands had to make an emergency landing shortly after take-off after the aircraft reportedly developed a fault.
The flight to Gran Canaria, identifier G-JZBR, departed from Edinburgh shortly after 9am on Wednesday morning, March 15, but was forced to abandon its flight path shortly after take-off due to a fault, reports Edinburgh Live.
The Herald reported that the aircraft was met by two emergency vehicles on the runway. Flightradar24 data shows that the jet deviated from its normal flight path over Dublin around 40 minutes into the journey.
It then performed three "go-arounds" in the skies over Manchester before landing at Manchester Airport shortly after 10.30am.The backup jet then took off at around 12pm, landing on the Spanish island four hours later.
