Resort developers in Perthshire seek to reassure 7000 petition signers as building projects multiply

Developers turning Taymouth Castle and its extensive estate in Kenmore into a luxury resort have attempted to reassure locals they need not fear overdevelopment of Loch Tay.A spokesperson from Discovery Land Company (DLC) has promised to “maintain the peace and tranquillity of the area” after 7000 people signed Protect Loch Tay, an online petition seeking to safeguard the Perthshire loch which has wooded shores, countless wildlife species and a popular beach at Kenmore.In a bid to appease concerned locals - miffed with the loss of a hotel and shop - DLC have announced the return of the village shop, minus Post Office services, in the coming months.A group, Protect Loch Tay, has been reaching out nationally to raise awareness over fears the activities of DLC - the American business, which with several shell companies owns Taymouth - could change their home environment around Kenmore forever.The change.org petition was launched earlier this week and has been widely shared.

On Friday, July 21 it had captured 7100 online signatures.Killin resident Rob Jamieson, a salmon fishing guide with rights to fish the western beat at Kenmore, began the petition calling for a stop to further planning applications and changes to existing permissions.Mr Jamieson said: “DLC plan to create a private resort on over 8000 acres of land at Taymouth Castle, Glen Lyon and other areas around Loch Tay.“This whole area is a treasured part of our Scottish heritage and culture and we seek to preserve it for everyone.“DLC have already been granted consent for around 208 luxury homes and are now seeking further consents which, if granted, will damage what we have.”The petition demands adds: “We seek to highlight this to the Scottish Government and
