Luncarty boss Jason McCrindle has urged his history-makers to make their date with destiny one to remember on Saturday.The Bleachers welcome 2022/23 North Caledonian League winners Loch Ness to Brownlands Park for Scottish Cup preliminary round one action.Both teams are competing in the competition for the first time and dreaming of a memorable run into the main draw.McCrindle, who took the reins at the start of this season, said: “When I first spoke to everybody about coming on board at Luncarty, the Scottish Cup felt very far away.“But, all of a sudden, here it is.

This week everything has been focused towards Saturday and there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes.“Everyone is being really positive because we want to make this a special day for the club.“I’ve said to the players that they will be creating history.

They are the first players to represent Luncarty in the Scottish Cup and that should make them proud and pleased.“It is reward for what the club achieved last year.

All the hard work has put the players in this position.”The carrot being dangled in front of Luncarty and Loch Ness is a preliminary round two tie against Newton Stewart.McCrindle is fully focused on this weekend’s fixture but, of course, it can be difficult to blank out what might be on the immediate horizon.“We hadn’t really spoken about or mentioned the Scottish Cup match until this week,” he said.“We have genuinely been focusing on each of the league games.“Our three games in the league so far have been against well-established Premier Division sides.“I’ve always said that we weren’t coming into this league to make up the numbers.
