Steven Gerrard

Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

Philippe Clement warned by Rangers figures from within Ibrox over title-altering hex

Philippe Clement has revealed how he was warned by Rangers insiders and fans of the Light Blues history of collapsing on their return from winter training camps.

The Ibrox side suffered slow starts in successive seasons under Steven Gerrard after going into the winter break on the back of wins over Celtic only to come back looking sluggish after training camps in Dubai and Tenerife but Gerrard claimed it was nonsense to suggest their trips away were behind their dip in form.

However, Rangers ditched a training camp in Gerrard’s final season and the went on to win the title while rivals Celtic went to Dubai during a catastrophic campaign.

Clement watched his side win their third game on the bounce since coming back from La Manga during the Scottish Premiership shutdown with Cyriel Dessers netting the only goal of the game at a windy Paisley.
