Chris Sutton labels Rangers 'phenomenal' and can’t see old trait rearing its ugly head again

Chris Sutton reckons Rangers must guard against complacency after their “phenomenal” comeback as he talked up an enthralling Scottish Premiership title race.The Light Blues have clawed their way back into the league scrap and Philippe Clement wiped out the seven-point deficit he inherited with a 3-1 victory over Ross County at Ibrox on Wednesday night.

Celtic now lead only on goal difference with the Hoops hosting Kilmarnock on Saturday before rivals Rangers travel to St Johnstone 24 hours later.Ex Parkhead strike hero and Record Sport columnist Sutton has been hugely impressed with Clement but, speaking on the BBC Football Daily podcast, he warned the Belgian he can’t afford to allow his players to get carried away - and is confident they won’t.

He said: “The one thing which Rangers can’t afford to do and I don’t think they will, because I don’t think the manager will allow them to do, is to get complacent.“We have seen them get complacent in previous seasons.

But things can unravel quickly either way. You know, Rangers certainly haven’t cracked it. I don’t think Philippe Clement is saying that they have.
