Coronavirus (Covid) is starting to dominate headlines again as two new strains of the respiratory infection have been identified in the UK.

Health experts have warned that cases are rising with new figures showing that the number of people with the virus across the UK had reached 10.8 per 100,000, for the week running up to August 14.

However, many people may not be aware that the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) currently provides financial support for 5,224 people with Covid living in Scotland, England and Wales.

New claims for PIP have been replaced by Adult Disability Payment (ADP) since August last year, but the condition can also be supported through the devolved benefit. The latest figures from the DWP show that in April 2023, there were 3.3 million people across Great Britain claiming PIP, including nearly 299,000 people in Scotland.
