Law and District Amateur Athletics Club have enjoyed successful month after winning the 2023 Central and South of Scotland Athletics League, while athletes also picked up medals at top events.The Lanarkshire outfit triumphed from 23 clubs competing in three matches, with athletes ranging from under-11 to senior or masters, and in all types of track and field events.Law beat Kilmarnock Harriers and Glasgow Victoria Park to the title.A club spokeswoman said: “It is the only league where we see young athletes competing in the same match as their mums and dads, which creates a brilliant family atmosphere, where everyone digs in and supports one another.“We will be holding a family celebration night in Hamilton on September 1 for all our well-deserving club members.”The club’s youngsters were out in force at the Red Hose Race in Carnwath, with several impressive runs and prize-winners.Ryan Kellock won the under-16 boys; race, with James Bennett second.Neve Elliott won the under-15 girls’ rac,e with Abbie Boyle third.Kieran Pugh was second in the men’s race, while Jessica Inglis won the woman’s event, ahead of Maddy Watson in second.Coach and senior runner Rich Beattie completed the UTMB (Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc) Marathon Trail 50km earlier this month in very muddy conditions at the Kitzbühel Alps in Austria.Meanwhile, Law’s under-17 and senior athletes enjoyed success at the National Championships in Grangemouth over the weekend of August 12 and 13.Tehillah Okonkwo won the under-17 100m, with Tiana Greenshields seventh.Owen Murphy was second in under-17 100m, with Ross Duffin third.Jessica Inglis was second in under-17 800m, while Leah Keisler was fourth in the senior women’s event.Steven Stone won gold in 400m ambulant.Tho
