Pensioners enjoying cup of tea on holiday forcibly removed from caravan by armed police

Two pensioners were enjoying a cup of tea in their dressing gowns when "six heavily armed police officers" raided their holiday home.

John and Yvonne Hullican, from Rossendale in Lancashire, had purchased two air pistols while on their holiday. They bought them from a licenced store in Ellesmere port before taking them to their holiday home in Thurstaston on the Wirral.

The couple, who are aged 85 and 84, were at their caravan in Thurstaston Caravan Park on May 18 when “six officers carrying pistols and machine carbines” arrived in three carsSpeaking to the Liverpool ECHO, Mr Hullican said: "We were dressed only in dressing gowns prior to a shower and enjoying a cup of tea.

At approximately 11am came the loud banging on the outside door, then, 'police, open up'."We immediately thought something was awry on the site.
