Harvey Weinstein

Harvey Weinstein CBE (born March 19, 1952) is an American former film producer. He and his brother Bob Weinstein co-founded the entertainment company Miramax, which produced several successful independent films, including Sex, Lies, and Videotape (1989), The Crying Game (1992), Pulp Fiction (1994), Heavenly Creatures (1994), Flirting with Disaster (1996), and Shakespeare in Love (1998).

Weinstein won an Academy Award for producing Shakespeare in Love, and garnered seven Tony Awards for a variety of plays and musicals, including The Producers, Billy Elliot the Musical, and August: Osage County. After leaving Miramax, Weinstein and his brother Bob founded The Weinstein Company, a mini-major film studio. He was co-chairman, alongside Bob, from 2005 to 2017.

Harvey Weinstein Indecent Assault Charges Dropped in U.K.: ‘No Longer a Realistic Prospect of Conviction’

Harvey Weinstein saying there is not “a realistic prospect of conviction.” In June 2022, the CPS authorized two charges of indecent assault against a women by Mr Weinstein.

The alleged assaults were said to have taken place in London in 1996. These will now be dropped. Frank Ferguson, head of the CPS Special Crime and Counter Terrorism Division, said: “Following a review of the evidence in this case, the CPS has decided to discontinue criminal proceedings against Harvey Weinstein.

The CPS has a duty to keep all cases under continuous review and we have decided that there is no longer a realistic prospect of conviction.” “We have explained our decision to all parties.

We would always encourage any potential victims of sexual assault to come forward and report to police and we will prosecute wherever our legal test is met.” More to come….
