'Outlander': Everything We Know About the Eighth and Final Season
glamour.comOutlander was never going to air forever, and yet somehow it felt like it would. But on January 19, Starz officially announced that all good—in this case, great—stories must come to an end, and season eight of will be its last.The good news is that the seventh season is still filming in Scotland, and it's a supersized 16 episode season (Starz released over Christmas).
While no official premiere date has been announced, Starz has said sometime in summer 2023. Season eight will most likely film later this year or early next, and will consist of 10 episodes, meaning that fans have a whopping 26 episodes to still look forward to.Starz released a video with ("Claire Fraser"), Sam Heughan ("Jamie Fraser"), Sophie Skelton ("Brianna MacKenzie"), Richard Rankin ("Roger MacKenzie"), and John Bell ("Young Ian") reacting to the news, and helping us deal with our grief (because let's be honest, that's what it is).
Kathryn Busby, president of original programming for Starz, said in a statement, “For nearly a decade Outlander has won the hearts of audiences worldwide and we’re pleased to bring Claire and Jamie’s epic love story to a proper conclusion.
But before we close this chapter there is plenty of their passionate story to tell over the course of 26 new episodes and even more to explore of this dynamic world and its origin story.
