Robbie Holden has spoken of his lofty ambitions after being confirmed as the new manager of Jeanfield Swifts.Holden and his team - Richie Montgomery (assistant), Bally Whytock (coach), Chris Anton (coach), Nathan Downs (goalkeeping coach) and Amber Shearer (physio) - have made the move to the Riverside from fellow Perthshire outfit Luncarty. It was there he helped the Bleachers earn promotion to the Premier Division as well as two trophy triumphs, one of which secured qualification for the Scottish Cup.While a difficult decision to make, Holden admitted the draw of the managerial move was too great.

He spent many years as a player at Swifts.Holden explained: “We first had a conversation around January but, at the time, we didn’t think it was right because of where we were in the season.“We talked about it for the end of the season and, after speaking with the coaching team, we agreed it was the right move for us.“We had a brilliant time at Luncarty - a great season - but this was an opportunity we felt that we had to take.“I have history here as a player, Bally Whytock too and Chris Anton was captain of the club.“There would not have been many places we would’ve left for because of the connection we had at Luncarty.

But a lot of things made sense with this.”Holden has wasted no time in adding to his new Swifts squad and has already acquired the services of midfielder Pat Brown from Kinnoull and Olly Hamilton, an attacker, who he knows well from Luncarty.“There is a brilliant set of players at this club,” Holden told the PA. “We want to add to that.“We’ve brought in a couple already and there are three or four more I’m working on.“Pat ticks a lot of boxes and has done brilliantly for Kinnoull.
