The Met Office has warned that the weather in the UK is about to change as a new 'Atlantic influence' brings periods of persistent rain to some parts of the country.

Much of the UK has seen dry, bright and hot weather in recent days, with areas in the south enjoying this summer's warmest temperatures so far.

Parts of London recorded 32C and heatwave conditions were met as the hot weather persisted. However, now the Met Office says the pleasant weather is subsiding and in its place will be much more changeable conditions.

The Atlantic influence will bring periods of rain for some, as well as drier and brighter interludes at times, the weather agency said.
