Martin Lewis has warned that people who pay for their energy by direct debit could be being overcharged. It comes after the energy price cap dropped to £1,834 per year for a typical household that pays direct debit.

The moneysavingexpert website highlighted that this should only apply to standard tariffs and not fixed ones. Speaking on ITV Money Show, Martin said that there is an easy way to check if you're being overcharged and advised on what steps you can take.
