Erik ten Hag insists he is happy with the progress Mason Mount has made so far at Manchester United and has hinted that he could be selected to face City this weekend.

The 24-year-old was United's first signing of the summer, joining the club from Chelsea in a deal that was initially worth £55million.

The fee could eventually rise to £60m because of performance-related add-ons. Ten Hag was determined to strengthen his midfield options with a younger and more dynamic operator and earmarked Mount as the ideal candidate, but despite the billing he has experienced a slightly slow start to life at his new club.
