Ten Hag received a caution on Saturday against Luton Town meaning he has picked up three bookings so far this season. The Dutchman must now serve a one-match touchline ban against Everton after the international break.
Last year, the threshold before a suspension for managers was four bookings but in a bid to crack down on dissent this has been changed.
Eight bookings in total will lead to a two-match ban for Ten Hag while 16 will see him sent to a FA hearing.
