Man charged after stabbing near tram stop in Droylsden

A man has been charged after a man was stabbed near a Metrolink stop in Droylsden. Police witnessed what initially appeared to be two men fighting near the tram stop on Market Street at around 4am on Sunday, August 13.

Upon further investigation, officers discovered a man had been stabbed. He was taken to hospital where he received treatment for his injuries, which are not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening. He appeared at Tameside Magistrates Court on Monday (August 14) and has been remanded into custody. His next appearance is at Manchester Crown Court will be on September 18.

Officers believe this to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the wider community but anyone with information is being asked to contact police.
