Phil Spencer's heartbreaking tribute to parents in full as they die in tragic accident

TV presenter Phil Spencer has paid a heartbreaking tribute to his parents after they both died in a car accident. Taking to Instagram yesterday (August 20), the 53 year old shared a photo of his mum and dad looking happy as they smiled for the camera.

He explained that his mum, Anne, 82, and his dad, Richard, 89, had passed away on Friday (August 18) after leaving their farm to go to lunch.

He wrote: “Very sadly both of my amazing parents died on Friday. "As a family we are all trying to hold onto the fact Mum and Dad went together and that neither will ever have to mourn the loss of the other one.

Which is a blessing in itself.” He revealed that his mum’s Parkinson’s and his dad’s dementia were beginning to “worsen” and that the future was “set to be a challenge.” “Although they were both on extremely good form in the days before (hence the sudden idea to go out to lunch), Mums Parkinson's and Dads Dementia had been worsening and the long term future was set to be a challenge. “So much so that Mum said to me only a week ago that she had resigned to thinking "now it looks like we will probably go together".
