Students who took their GCSE exams this year won't have to wait much longer to find out their results. Thousands of students across the country sat their GCSE exams across May and June - and will now be anxious to see how they did.
It's the second year students have taken exams in-person, following teacher assessment grades due to the pandemic being awarded in 2020 and 2021.
Exams regulator Ofqual has said a return to pre-pandemic grading means this year’s national GCSE results in England will be lower than last year and similar to levels in 2019 – the year before coronavirus.
However protection has been built into the grading process to recognise the disruption that students have faced and to account for work that might be slightly 'weaker' than before the pandemic.
