Kiltwalkers take on conditions to raise money for Renton-based social care charity

By James Humphrey Staff and supporters of Cornerstone braved the elements to raise funds for the Renton-based social care charity at last month’s Kiltwalk.The Cornerstone team are now on course to raise more than £2,000 for the charity which helps people learning disabilities, physical disabilities, autism and complex care needs, to live the best possible life.The Kiltwalkers were split up into three different groups depending on the length of the walk they embarked on: Wee Wanderers, Big Stroller and Mighty Striders.Support Practitioner Lisa Johnstone said: “It was very emotional finishing the Kiltwalk.

It was a tough walk with the bad weather, so I think we were all very glad to see the finish line.“Being able to raise money for Cornerstone was fantastic.

Knowing that the money we raised as a team will go towards helping the people we support was what kept us all going. Especially knowing how much of a difference it will make in lives of the people we support.”The Kiltwalk itself is the largest walking event in Scotland with over 120,000 people participating in the event since 2016.Kiltwalk’s fundraising support officer, Catriona Allan, said: “It was a fantastic event.

A huge thanks go to the Hunter Foundation and to everyone that chose to walk for Cornerstone on the day.“Your support goes such a long way towards helping the people we support to live the best life possible.”
