Hundreds flock to medieval day and new William Wallace mural in Lanark

Knights took over Lanark as the town was taken back to medieval times for a hugely popular celebration day which saw the unveiling of a new attraction honouring its links with William Wallace.Hundreds of enthusiastic visitors attended to try out a busy range of activities including challenging chainmail-clad knights, blacksmithing and arrow making, trying calligraphy and enjoying displays of armoury, weapons and medieval costumes.It came as the new William Wallace House outdoor museum at Castlegate was officially unveiled, transforming the gap site reputed to have been the home of the Braidfute family with huge murals and public art installations.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
