Heatwave comes to abrupt end as torrential rain batters Greater Manchester

The weather really hasn't been able to make its mind up in recent weeks. From hot sunny days to thunder and lightning without a moments hesitation.

And today has been no different. The MetOffice issued a yellow weather warning covering our region with rain and thunderstorms due to hit on Sunday.

Just after 3pm the heavens seemed to open sending people in Manchester ducking for cover. The one potential positive of this being that this coming week is set to be much cooler, while plenty of sun will still shine, making sleeping at night that bit easier. Across the city Market Street flooded again, with people having to walk single file around a huge puddle on the pavement between the tram stop and the entrance to Primark.
