Former Rangers and Liverpool star's rave reviews of ex-Burnley striker led to Hamilton signing

Hamilton Accies boss John Rankin has revealed he signed former Burnley kid Joe McGlynn following rave reviews from former Rangers and Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam.Rankin snapped up McGlynn on a permanent deal earlier this week to bolster his front line for the League One campaign and it comes after a glowing report from former Scotland star Adam, who is currently the loan manager at Burnley.McGlynn's arrival has finally come to fruition after a move fell through in January and he joined English National League North side Kiddieminster, while he was still contracted to The Clarets.The 23-year-old was released by the Turf Moor club this summer and has penned a deal, with a little help from Adam.Rankin said: "I spoke to Charlie Adam at length about Joe, as he had worked with him last season."He knows him personally and Charlie said it would be a no-brainer for us to go and get him."If Charlie is giving you advice on someone, you look at his clips and see Joe being a different type of player to what we've brought in so far, it was important for us to get him in."Charlie really sung his praises.

I don't want to put too much pressure on the boy, but Charlie basically said he knows where the goal is and he'll score goals for us."That's what you want to hear when you bring in a striker."Joe was actually put to us in January when we were struggling to score goals and looking to get a striker in, so he was one that got away."We got the opportunity again to bring him in and this time it was a case of him being our player, rather than a loan player from England.

I thought that was important."There is competition for places in the attacking areas now. We've brought in some proven strikers now so that's important."Joe knows there
