Cumbernauld Colts boss David Proctor says racking up plenty of strong tests in pre-season will stand his side in good stead for their opening Lowland League clash at home to Celtic at the end of the month.Colts, who finished third in the NL Cup tournament over the weekend after a 2-1 defeat to Albion Rovers was followed up by a 2-0 win over a young Motherwell side, learned their opening fixtures of the Lowland League last week. And it is a tough start for the Broadwood side, with last season’s third-place club Celtic B, fourth-place Stirling Uni and seventh-place Berwick Rangers in their first three matches. But Proctor says the tests in the NL Cup and this weekend’s clash at home to League One Hamilton Accies are perfect preparation. He said: “Celtic are a very good side and we know what we are going to get from them in terms of energy and their technical ability.“We will just have to be ready for it and then go again quickly for University of Stirling in the midweek, who will also bring good energy that can hurt us, and then we have Berwick to follow that, so we’ve got some tough test to get us started.“But that’s why we are playing in games like the NL Cup and against Hamilton Accies, to stand us in good stead for the league season.“Hamilton will be another really tough test for us, but we will have some of our more experienced players back to come and support us because we didn’t have a massive squad over the weekend.”Since the weekend, Colts have announced the signing of Dean Manson to the 1st team squad. The 19-year-old centre-back joins from amateur side Doune Castle.Proctor said: "Dean was a player that came to my attention from someone I trust in the game.
