Accies stars Jamie Hamilton and Marley Redfern injury comeback update as boss sees progress

Hamilton Accies boss John Rankin says he hopes to see injured duo Jamie Hamilton and Marley Redfern back on the training pitch soon.Defender Hamilton has been out long-term, sidelined since the end of the 2021/22 season in the Championship amid a number of setbacks on his road to recovery, while Redfern missed the end of last season with an ankle injury while he was recovering from a hamstring strain in the SPFL Trust Trophy final win over Raith Rovers in March.With the new League One campaign fast approaching, Rankin admits that will come too soon for the pair but Accies should see them back amongst the squad for training in the coming weeks.Rankin, whose side head to Broadwood this afternoon to play Cumbernauld Colts in a friendly, said: "Jamie is getting around the group a lot more.

We will see him a lot more now as he is getting closer to getting back on the training pitch."He's got his own rehab programme and he is not too far away."I'm not going to put a timescale on it because we have been here before with him, but I think it is important Jamie is around the group, the group sees him working hard and knows the effort and energy levels he is putting in to get himself fit."Over the course of the next month, I'd like to see Jamie back on the training pitch in some capacity, whether that be joining in for training, being a side man in a passing drill, something like that."As for Marley, he did his ankle at the end of last season and is still going through the healing process."He is hoping to be back on the training pitch at the end of the month."With ankle ligaments, we need to see how he develops and how quickly the process is for him."But Marley is quite hopeful."He is back on the grass running, but just himself
