Queen's Park star pointed brother in Hamilton Accies' direction with summer move

Jackson Longridge says a family connection paid off as he joined Hamilton Accies’ quest for the League One title.Left-back Longridge, 28, was snapped up after leaving Livingston this summer, and revealed that several conversations with brother Louis convinced him New Douglas Park was the place for him.The elder Longridge, 31, who is currently plying his trade in the Championship with Queen’s Park, was a star at Accies from 2012 to 2018, and Jackson will be keen to follow in his footsteps.He said: “When I first heard Accies were interested in me, Louis phoned me straight away, and I had a good conversation with him.“I had numerous conversations with him before I signed here, and he helped push me towards Hamilton, and I’m just pleased to be here.“I’m confident we can do well here this season.“There is a good bunch here, there are good players, and the core of the team has stayed as well, which has helped.“It’s about starting the season nice and quick, and hopefully we can get a bit of momentum, going into the season.”Longridge got off the mark 12 minutes into Saturday’s 3-0 pre-season friendly win over Blantyre Vics at the KG Stadium, lifting the inaugural PG McGilvray Memorial Cup, with goals also coming from a Stephen White own-goal and a strike from Euan Henderson.The defender said: “It’s another game under our belt.
