There are two types of passengers in the skies - those who hit the recline button on their seats and those who simmer with irritation when it happens to them.Economy class on long-haul flights is hardly a haven of comfort, prompting some travellers to tilt their seats back for extra room, particularly when trying to catch some shut-eye.
Yet, this move can be a source of great annoyance for the person directly behind, especially during meal times. The question then arises; how justified is your vexation, and is there anything you can do about it?To put an end to the ongoing debate, experienced cabin crew member Hannah Gaiger, with over eight years in the air, shared her insights on TikTok.Hannah has found herself mediating disputes between full-grown adults bickering over seat reclining rights more than once. "For some reason, I don't know why, this is such an issue on flights," she remarked in her recent TikTok post.Hannah takes a clear stance in favour of those wishing to recline.
She typically tells passengers complaining about someone reclining in front of them: "If the seat function has a seat recline, they are allowed to recline it."Nonetheless, she concedes that during meal service, when tray tables are in use, it's only polite to keep your seat upright.
