BBC's The One Show, a staple of early evening telly, is noticeably missing from this week's schedules due to significant changes in programming as sports take centre stage. With Euro 2024 in full swing and Wimbledon 2024 starting on Monday, July 1, several beloved TV shows have been put on hold to make room for prime-time coverage of live football and tennis matches. The One Show, fronted by regulars Alex Jones, Jermaine Jenas and Roman Kemp, is notably absent from the TV schedules throughout this week.

Although it often moves from its usual 7pm BBC1 slot to BBC2 to accommodate major sporting events or political debates ahead of the imminent general election, this week The One Show has been completely dropped.Alex announced last Friday that the show would be taking a break, confirming its return on Monday, July 8.

This news comes just days after The One Show was abruptly stopped live on air and guest Stacey Dooley was quickly escorted off midway through a chat with Alex and Roman. And it's not just The One Show that's disappearing - fans of daytime favourites like BBC1's Bargain Hunt and Escape To The Country will also miss their usual programmes as the major sports tournaments and coverage for Thursday's general election dominate the airwaves.

Meanwhile, EastEnders is also dealing with scheduling changes this week, as it will be aired at different times on BBC2 instead of its regular slot on BBC1.
