Richard Ashcroft announces huge outdoor London show for summer 2024
Richard Ashcroft has announced details of a huge outdoor show, set to take place in London next summer.The announcement comes as the singer-songwriter has been revealed as the latest addition to the upcoming Kew The Music live music event, held in South West London.Set to take place over the summer, the week-long event will return to the UNESCO World Heritage site, Kew Gardens, between July 8 and July 12, 2024.For his appearance at next year’s instalment, Ashcroft will appear as the final headliner at the event and is set to take to the stage on the last day, Sunday, July 14.The upcoming set follows the two-time Ivor Novello winner’s work with The Verve over the years, as well as his run of solo albums, the most recent of which was his sixth solo LP, ‘Acoustic Hymns Vol. 1’, which arrived back in 2021.As well as Ashcroft, other artists set to appear as headliners for the 2024 edition of Kew The Music include pop singer Mika, who will headline the event on Tuesday, July 9, and Passenger who will take to the stage on Thursday, July 11.Following the recent completion of their 2023 reunion tour, JLS will also be taking to the stage at the London live music event on Friday, July 12, and the upcoming instalment will be opened by British horticulturist, broadcaster, and writer Monty Don, who will be taking part in an ‘Evening In Conversation’ event on Monday, July 8.The headliners for Wednesday (July 10) and Saturday (July 13) are set to be revealed at a later date, as are the guests set to join Ashcroft on the final night of next year’s edition.Tickets for the Richard Ashcroft show will go on pre-sale from tomorrow (December 19) at 10am GMT.

Arctic Monkeys, Florence + The Machine and Harry Styles leading the pack.The nominees for this year’s instalment were announced yesterday (April 18) by The Ivors Academy, and features nine categories including Song Writer Of The Year With Amazon Music, Best Album and Best Contemporary Song.72 individual songwriters and composers from Britain and Ireland were announced in the nominations, and songwriting partnerships with Harry Styles and Kid Harpoon, and Cleopatra Nikolic (known artistically as Cleo Sol) and Dean ‘Inflo’ Josiah Cover lead the way, with three nominations each.Alongside Harry Styles and Kid Harpoon, nominees for the Songwriter Of The Year With Amazon Music award include Florence + The Machine frontwoman Florence Welch, The 1975’s George Daniel and Matty Healy, and Wet Leg’s Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers.Best Album nominees include Arctic Monkeys’ latest effort, ‘The Car’, as well as Lil Simz’s ‘No Thank You’, Fontaine D.C’s ‘Skinty Fia’ and Sault’s ‘11’.Elsewhere, Harry Styles is also in the running to win the award for the Best Song Musically and Lyrically with 2022’s ‘As It Was’. Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora was revealed to have been the mystery celebrity singing in a jacket potato costume on The Masked Singer UK at the weekend.READ MORE: Mark, My Words: this is how The Masked Singer could become the greatest show ever made During his time on the show, Sambora had performed songs such as Elvis Presley‘s ‘Viva Las Vegas’, Leonard Cohen‘s ‘Hallelujah’, Fleetwood Mac‘s ‘Go Your Own Way’ and ‘Love Me Again’ by John Newman.After he was eliminated from the competition and duly unmasked, Sambora said: “I love being a guitar player and a songwriter. And of course I’m very privileged and honoured to have had so much success and the accolades of being a Grammy winner, an Ivor Novello Award winner and a Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame and Songwriters Hall Of Fame inductee, but what I really love to do is sing!”“My hiatus from Bon Jovi and the Covid impact on my solo touring meant I could only do one thing which is make a new record until I saw The Masked Singer!
