With an uptick in applications over the past year, many new applicants are facing waits of around three months before they can start getting PIP.
The number of working-age adults being found too sick to work, or who have become too disabled to work, has grown sharply since the Covid pandemic and amid record waits for both primary and planned NHS care.
This means more people who need financial help with the additional costs relating to their condition. But with waits of up to 12 weeks to be assessed and a success rate of only 40 per cent, it can be bank-breaking to get to the end of the process and have your claim rejected.
