Brittany Snow Opens Up About Father's Battle with Alzheimer's Disease

Brittany Snow is talking about her father’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis for the first time. The 38-year-old actress sat down with Rachel Bilson and Olivia Allen on their Broad Ideas podcast and ended up addressing what her and her father have been going through. Keep reading to find out more… According to Brittany, it’s been “a really long time” since her father received the diagnosis.

She expressed pain and heartache about her father’s disease, claiming that he was once who she was closest to, but now that’s all changed. “There is no home in that way,” Brittany explained after noting that there is no more physical touch between her and her father due to the Alzheimer’s.

Even though the disease has drastically changed their relationship, Brittany remains grateful for the time she does have with him, “I get to realize what I love about him and appreciate each thing about these tiny little moments that then get lost.

Although it’s quite sad, it’s so much better of a gift than it happening suddenly.” She said that getting to grieve the loss of her father slowly has been “a gift” and even described it as “really beautiful.” While on Broad Ideas, Brittany went on to say that having a father with Alzheimer’s has allowed her to meet and connect with new people in new ways. “There are so many people who have gone through this and it’s a baffling disease to witness,” Brittany shared her thoughts before going on to say, “I think it’s really, really interesting and beautiful to get to see someone who is still there, but just a different version of themselves.” While it may seem like a strange take on the disease, by Brittany saying this she’s allowed others who may be struggling with something similar to reframe their perspective
