A group have been jailed after a man was stabbed to death as he sat drinking a takeaway coffee in Piccadilly Basin. Ahmed Alsharan was stabbed in the heart and pushed into a canal amid the city centre brawl.
The 33-year-old had been drinking coffee with his brother and a friend beside the Rochdale Canal near Dale Street on August 16 last year when they were approached by Mohammed Al-Enizi Hameed.
He asked: "Who are you?" Al-Enizi Hameed then issued a 'call to arms' to a group nearby, shouting: "Bring the knife - let's kill them." READ MORE: Inside the home of a depraved rapist whose crimes appalled the most hardened of cops The group was caught on CCTV running to the scene before Mr Alsharan was stabbed in the heart and pushed into the water.
His friend Sami Alhaj was also stabbed. He was left with wounds to his abdomen, armpit and lung. In mobile phone footage played to Minshull Street Crown Court, Al-Enizi Hameed's group were seen shouting and gesturing at Mr Alsharan's group as he walked away clutching his side.
