Firefighters tackle blaze at Chinese takeaway in Scots town

A fire ripped through a Chinese takeaway in Uddingston this morning. Emergency crews were alerted to the incident at around 8:35am, Saturday, September 23, at the town's Main Street.

The road was locked down as locals described seeing a number of police cars and fire engines in the area.There is no information about any casualties at this stage.An image from the scene shows firefighters in the street as smoke billows out of the premises.A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We responded to reports of a fire at Uddingston Main Street around 8:36am on Saturday, September 23."Three appliances were mobilised and we left the scene at 10:26am."Police Scotland has been approached for comment.
