Two people are in hospital tonight after two trains collided at a Scots railway station.Emergency crews raced to the incident at Aviemore Railway Station, in the Highlands, at around 7pm today.
Medics from the Scottish Ambulance Service attended the scene and two passengers were found injured. They were taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness for treatment, where their current condition is unknown.
Meanwhile, three other passengers were treated at the scene for their injuries but did not require hospital treatment.Eight Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) appliances were sent to the scene following the incident, with three remaining at the train station.Officers from Police Scotland say inquiries remain ongoing.A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 7pm on Friday, 29 September, 2023, we received a report of two trains colliding at Aviemore Railway Station.
Emergency services are in attendance, and two people have been taken to Raigmore Hospital."A number of other passengers are being treated at the scene and enquiries are ongoing."A spokesman for SFRS said: "We were alerted at 7.10pm on Friday to reports of a collision involving two trains at Aviemore Railway Station."We sent eight appliances to the scene, where firefighters worked to support partners.
