Temperatures are set to climb to 25C today in what could be the start of the a 'mini heatwave' in our region. According to the Met Office, the next few days are set to be warm and sunny in our region with the mercury reaching a high of at least 25C on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Wednesday looks set to be the hottest day in the warm spell, with the mercury predicted to climb to 27C. Today (Sunday) is set to be largely sunny and warm, with some cloudy intervals forecast for this afternoon. A similar picture is forecast on Tuesday, before the mercury peaks at 27C on Wednesday. Met Office forecasters said 'it is possible' that some places in the UK 'may reach heatwave criteria' over the coming days.

The warmer weather sweeping is due to a change in the jet stream, with higher pressure bringing more dry, settled and sunnier weather.
