Former East Kilbride winger Kevin Wilson insists his old club have been unlucky not to earn entry into the SPFL – but admits his allegiances now lie with a rival.Wilson, 34, played almost every game for the K-Park club in 2013-14 before moving to a new life in Dubai and still keeps up with their results.But his dad Davie is kit manager at Lowland League rivals Open Goal Broomhill, so Kevin feels duty-bound to support them instead.Kevin moved to the UAE in 2014, where he’s now a risk compliance manager and married to English wife Charlotte, whom he met over there.He’s loving life, but admits he was looking for a change when the chance to move to Dubai came up.He said: “I moved here in 2014, just for a lifestyle change.“I played for East Kilbride at the time, 34 games that season, and the last game of the season was the cup final, but the weekend before that my appendix burst in training, so I was rushed to hospital.“The only game I missed that season was the cup game, which we won, and after that I was down in the dumps.“The opportunity arose to come here, and since I’ve been here I’ve met my wife, bought a house, we’ve got a couple of dogs running around, all my mates are here.“We got married here about a month ago, 40 people came over from the UK and the other 40 were from here, so we’re pretty much set up here for the foreseeable, I would think.“I’m a risk compliance manager for a real estate company, so I manage compliance for the UAE, Egypt, Oman, Saudi, Qatar, Bahrain, making sure everyone’s following the rules – which in this region is extremely difficult!“I love it, it’s brilliant here.
