The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is urging people to check if they are entitled to additional financial aid this winter.
This could mean an annual extra support of around £4,375 for eligible households, so it's crucial for individuals to see if they fit the necessary criteria.
Speaking about the availability of various measures designed to assist low-income families during colder seasons, Minister for Pensions Emma Reynolds remarked: "As we head into the winter months, I want to ensure the most vulnerable in our society are getting the support they need, and that's why we have a range of measures targeted at helping low-income households." The opening of the Cold Weather Payment scheme today signifies the potential for qualifying households to receive £25 to manage expenses during periods of freezing weather.
In addition, those who qualify may also begin receiving the Warm Home Discount worth £150 towards energy bills shortly. Pensioners haven't been forgotten either, with a prompt to review their eligibility for Pension Credit, which on average offers £3,900 annually and includes entitlement to the Winter Fuel Payment – potentially up to £300.
