David Nevins Exits As CEO Of Peter Chernin’s The North Road Company

David Nevins is departing as CEO of The North Road Company after less than a year. Having joined Peter Chernin‘s media company during the WGA strike and on the eve of the SAG-AFTRA strike, Nevins had to navigate a rocky marketplace amid industry contraction which has led to a major pullback in buying.

Likely impacted by that, The North Road has not been able to make a mark in the scripted space over the past year. “David is a gifted creative media executive who brings a passion for quality to everything he does,” Chernin said. “Its been a pleasure working with him the last year at North Road and we wish him all best in his next endeavors.“ Nevins acknowledged that The North Road, which has been focused largely on company acquisitions, including most recently Jason Hehir’s Little Room Films and a stake in Questlove & Black Thought’s Two One Five Entertainment, was not “a perfect strategic fit,” hinting a potential return to his roots as a TV producer and network executive. “I enjoyed my time with North Road and working with the exceptional creative team, and I especially appreciated working alongside Peter Chernin who is one of the greats of this business, but as I look at what I want to do with the next phase of my career, this role wasn’t a perfect strategic fit,” he said. “I’m looking forward to pursuing other opportunities that will surely include making the kind of cutting-edge, quality, commercial television I love — as the industry continues to pivot I am incredibly excited about all the emerging creative possibilities.
