Martine McCutcheon is best known to fans as a much loved actress and singer, but in recent months, the talented star has also become a huge campaigner for raising awareness for chronic fatigue syndrome, a long-term neurological condition that affects the nervous and immune systems.
The star, who was diagnosed with the condition in 2021, has since suffered a number of debilitating symptoms, including extreme tiredness, fatigue and pain.
In a candid insight into how much it affects her day to day life, recently admitted how grateful she was to have been able to holiday abroad for her husband’s birthday, as last year she had missed it due to being “so dizzy she could barely stand” she had required hospital treatment for her condition.
But what exactly is chronic fatigue syndrome? Chronic fatigue syndrome, also known as myalgic encephalomyelitis, is a long term neurological condition which can affect anyone at any age, but is more common in women, and tends to develop between your mid-20s and mid-40s.Typically, the condition’s main symptom is extreme tiredness, but a whole host of other symptoms often accompany this including everything from headaches to brain fog, that can make even simple day to day tasks a constant struggle.
