This is not a drill: BTS star Jungkook is readying his debut solo album. Over the weekend, South Korea's Sports Chosun whet fans' appetites by reporting that the album will drop on July 14 – a little over five weeks from now.

In response to the report, BTS' management company Big Hit Entertainment have confirmed that the album is on its way, but stopped short of verifying the rumoured release date. "We will make an announcement once the release schedule for Jungkook’s solo album has been confirmed," the agency told Star News Jungkook has previously released several solo singles, including Stay Alive, which charted at Number 89 on the Official Singles Chart in February 2022.

As part of BTS, he has scored 4 UK Top 10 hits and 9 UK Top 75s. His highest peaking UK single to date is his collaboration with American pop singer, songwriter and producer Charlie Puth, Left and Right, which peaked just outside the Top 40 last year at Number 41.

In March, his bandmate Jimin became the first BTS member to score a Top 10 solo hit when Like Crazy entered at Number 8. 2023 has seen a veritable explosion of K-pop on the Official Charts so far; with Jisoo becoming the first member of BLACKPINK to score a solo Top 40 single, and most recently FIFTY FIFTY making Official Charts history as the first K-Pop girlgroup to ever enter the Official Singles Chart Top 10 with their track Cupid.
