As police tape flapped in the wind, three forensic tents stood on an estate and TV news crews gathered, a community in shock grieved.

Harpurhey woke to the news that a 14-year-old schoolboy had died following a stabbing on Tavistock Square yesterday (September 15).

He was later named as Nathaniel Shani. As the hours went by this morning (Saturday), families of Nathaniel's schoolfriends turned out one-by-one to pay their respects and leave flowers at the scene.

Watching the scene where the horror had unfolded, children wept alongside their parents. Those living on the Harpurhey streets surrounding Tavistock Square were also rocked.
