A woman has died after being hit by a train near Wilmslow station. Police and paramedics were called to reports of a casualty on the tracks at around 11.20am yesterday morning (Monday).
Sadly, the woman was pronounced dead on the scene. Her death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be passed to the coroner.
In a statement, a British Transport Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to the line near Wilmslow railway station at 11.17am on 29 May following reports of a casualty on the tracks. This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner." Following the incident yesterday, train services were cancelled or delayed between Wilmslow and Crewe.
