Keen-eyed viewers of the Olympics may have spotted some very cute little robot cars during track and field events. The miniature vehicles have been making an appearance at the likes of the javelin and discus throws.

And many viewers have been left baffled as to why the little motors keep popping up - usually delivering a vital piece of apparatus to an Olympic athlete as they make a bid for gold.

They are used to cut down the time it takes two human-sized legs to return the discs and spears to their rightful owner once they have been thrown.
