It’s been what can only be described as a mammoth and pivotal year for Vernon Kay. The 50-year-old presenter has taken over one of the UK's biggest radio shows, raised millions for charity and welcomed this year’s Team GB Olympians back home in true style.
While that would be enough to tire even the most active of us out, Vernon says he is riding a high and is continuing to ‘have the best time’, with another big moment coming up for him this weekend. “I’m loving it,” Vernon tells the Manchester Evening News of his busy schedule, which begins with his mid-morning show on BBC Radio 2 every weekday, which he’s fronted now for the last 16 months after taking over from Ken Bruce. I have a great team who have helped me settle in and they know how to keep it on track - even though I try my damnedest to fall off every now and then.
It’s great fun, It’s really positive energy.” Almost a year ago, Vernon took part in an ultra marathon challenge that saw him make the 115-mile journey from Leicester's Victoria Park to Bolton Wanderers' football stadium.
