A top weather forecaster has warned that a sizzling heatwave is heading for the UK, with the mercury potentially soaring into the "high-30Cs" in some regions.

James Madden from Exacta Weather took to Facebook yesterday (Saturday, July 13) to alert Brits of an impending "significant change in our overall weather pattern to very warm/very hot conditions throughout next week and late July".

He forecasts that the sweltering heat will begin around July 19 to July 20 and could persist for "several days or more". He continued: "We could [then] see the theme staying warm and summery at the very least to potentially hot or very hot in places over a number of days during the early part of August." He also suggests that the latter half of August might bring "some much cooler and unsettled weather". And this cool end to August might be welcome, if temperatures rise as high as Madden expects at the start of the month.
